Are those really heavy ring marks?

Like GO-FASTER , I am curious about the scratches on the tube, it seems odd that they run as far as they do..what caused these? Good price, but am curious as to the marks...rsbhunter

The scratches are from rings, not exactly sure how they happened. I thought about trying to touch them up but decided to leave them and offer the scope at a discount.
