This was news to me at least... heard they've been offered previously in some Black Hills ammo???

NEW Tipped MatchKing (TMK) Bullets from Sierra « Daily Bulletin

I'm liking the looks of the .224 69 TMK, as it has a .074 increase in G1 BC over the traditional SMK. Will keep that in mind for a buddie's 22-250 fast twist barrel coming soon... hhmmmm this could be good :D ... or heck might even get it tight enough to spin the 77 grainers, they have an increase of .048 G1 BC...

Wonder how that will change the expansion properties...

Happy Shootin'!! gun)

These bullets have me very excited! They have awesome BCs and look to be like A-MAXs but even better! Really hope they introduce a 6mm 105gr, a 6.5mm 142gr, a 7mm 168gr and 180gr, and a .30cal 210gr. Would also be nice if they paid some attention to the .270s and gave us one of these nice TMKs in a heavy for caliber weight. I was starting to rapidly lose interest in Sierra, they never had many bullets with great BCs or optimal long range hunting bullets but now they've really peaked my interest! Looking forward to these! Great job Sierra Bullets!

YAY!!! Its about time Sierra offered something new. At least newer than a few new weight additions. These are a major overhaul. The 175 TMK looks like a streamlined 178 AMAX. I've been dreaming of a sleek, tipped 175 class bullet. I'd kill or die for a 190 version. A 190 with a .58-.59 G1 would be a dream come true for me. Especially IF they expand like AMAX's.

That's exactly what I was thinking! The 178 A-MAX is a disappointment to me with a mediocre BC of .495 compared to the Hornady HPBT which has a nice .53 G1 BC. Now these TMKs offer the best of both worlds, high BC and the sleek tip that helps initiate expansion and hopefully the same results as the A-MAXs. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for a 190 TMK that would be awesome in everything from .30-06s to the big magnums. A true .545 BC 175gr and .535 168 is truly amazing when you compare them to what we have now. Those 155s also look promising as well! Really liking what I'm seeing!

I agree with everything you said except for the part about 30-06 on up! IMHO, the 190 really muscles up the 308win. I've been using 190s for years. 2660'sec in 24-26" barrels is a breeze and 2700-2750 is attainable in 26" barrels. With Berger's 190VLD and .57G1 BC at 2680'sec, it delivers 1000 foot pounds at 1K and less than 65" of 10MPH wind drift a 1K (.260rem 140VLD is 58" and 811 foot pounds for comparison sake). Going from .57 to potentially .58 to .59 wouldn't hurt a darn thing! Except for maybe deer and sheep :D

True! I left the .308 out. We have always used them mostly with 168s but my Dad did mess with 190 SMKs at 600yds when he shot Service Rifle in the Army with his M1A. These bullets might get get me back on the .30-06 kick haha. Those .535 BC 168s going 2950fps in a 26" barrel is deadly! Haha

Yeah, I ran the numbers with the 168s at 2950, 5000' elevation and they are impressive!

Wow,

Sierra must have significantly changed the design of their bullets outside the tip. The 175 TMK BC in 308 is impressive.

Well, Sierra's website says "backordered - available January 2015". So by January 31st, we'll all know how they shoot. We'll see.

I'm hoping for a tipped .375 350 SMK at some point. I don't care so much about bc increase. I am hoping that it would change terminal performance enough to make it a more viable hunting bullet. Any bc increase would be some extra gravy, IMO.

If Sierra did that, they would likely be beating everyone else to the punch vs bullets in the works by Berger and, perhaps, Hornady.

I am already shooting the 350 SMK for target purposes. Having a TMK that could be used for LRH would make me very happy.
