I live/ hunt in Northern Alberta as well (grande prairie area) currently I have a 336w fitted with williams firesight front bead, Skinner low profile peep, with a rail that can hold a 4x 32 bushnell or the tr25 red dot.
1895 with Skinner guide gun rear peep and Skinner front blade.
1917 made enfield with barrel cut to 18.5" with flip peep sight regulated at 100 and 200. I also mounted a rail forward of the action that can hold the tr25 and I have a side mount removable scope mount that puts a 1.5-5x35 with light center dot reticle over the action. All are fun up close deer/ Elk / bear guns for hunting thick timber
