See pics below... My rifle is a Cooper Model 54 in 7mm-08. The magazine is made from thick 15 ga stainless. My smith (Black Jack Gunsmiths, Austin Texas) used an end mill to take out some metal to accommodate up to an ext 1/10" of COAL. He used a file to clean up the edges, etc. It's a nice enhancement and now my long rounds feed as expected. (the dummy round at the bottom of the stack was seated even longer to exaggerate the condition for illustrative purposes...)
