Have worked up a couple loads that are good up to about 150, but neeed a good load to stretch out to 200 or better without the excess pressure..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

What kind of gun do you have? The problem with lever guns is they can't take over 30-40K C.U.P. Barnes makes an great 300 grain X bullet. I used to load up 350 grain lead bullets for TC in 45-70 and I had a buddy with a Street sweeper. We only loaded the lead bullets to max of 1950 fps

The gun is a new england handi rifle single shot with a 22" tube, it's the first 45-70 i've ever even shot. The primitive weapon law has changed this year here in Mississippi and were able to use calibers of .38 and higher that were designed pre 1900, so that's why i've chose this one, my 50 cal. inline cva has well over 2000 fps muzzle velocity and is deadly at 200 yards with 150 gr of triple 7 and a 250 gr Thompson Shockwave sabot, i'm trying to find an equivalent for my new 45-70....thanks

Check out Hornady's new soft Ballistic Tips. They offer superior performance to anything I've seen. I am loading Barnes 300 gr semi-spitzers in my Ruger 3, but I'm not sure your rifle could handle the pressure its loaded to. I am getting a little over 2400 fps with my current load.
