OK bear with me fellas. Trying to understand this. You run a ballistic program and it tells you that in order to be dead on at XXX yards you need to click up your scope 9.3 MOA. So does this mean you click up 9 MOA (hashlines on turrets) and 3 additional clicks or 9 MOA and 1 click thus rounding it off to 9.25---4 clicks 1 MOA) ? Please clarify. My Leupy 4.5-14x40 LR mm 30mm tube has finger adj 15 MOA turrets (although not target) . Thanx

POP,

I think that would be 9 MOA + 3 tenths MOA more.
If the numbers are MOA on your turrets, it looks like 1/4 MOA per click.

Thus, you'd go up 9 MOA plus 1 click which would get you to 9.25 MOA. Probably close enough....

If what you say is correct (I think it is) then I was on the right track. Mathematically you're dead on....

Use this ballistic calculator and it will tell you exactly how many "clicks" to click up.

That is what I am trying to avoid. Having to click 70 clicks up instead of 9 moa (just an example)

Does it ever say 9.5 or above? If it does then in is just a decimal and not clicks. Most calcs will tell 9+1 for 9.25 MOA.

In your case I would just round it to the nearest .25 MOA and go w/it.

Agreed!
If 4 clicks to 1 MOA then 9.25 MOA = 9 MOA + 1 CLICK
If 8 clicks to 1 MOA then 9.25 MOA = 9 MOA + 2 CLICKS

POP,

I usually round off to the nearest 1/2 min. So if the program told me 9.3 min, I would dial in 9 or 9.5 mins.

I use the program at biggameinfo.com...works great.

But there is NO subsitute for acutal shooting. I zero my rifle at 100 yars, then shoot at 600. I take that data and extrapolate in-between.

Example: The programs say my 300 should need 10 mins at 600. Actual shooting indicates 9.0-9.5 mins. I adjust the B.C. on the program until it agrees, then print a chart with 50 yard increments for field use. Works for me.

POP 9.3 moa means 9 moa and 1 click.

This Ballistic program makes all the counting and estimating the nearest 1/4 moa all go away. The drops are given to you in MOA and remaining clicks. You can select on the prefferences page how the drops are displayed and it lets you select how many clicks per MOA your scope has (yours has 4) So you can get drops in total clicks or inches or mils or decimal MOA or MOA and remaining clicks. The remaining clicks will never be more than 3 otherwise it will be a solid MOA count.

I love this program. It makes things so simple to copy and paste into a spreadsheet program so you can tape it to your gunstock.

Stop counting clicks and give it a try.

Here. This is a screen shot of the drops options and velocity and time of flight in the program I linked to above. Look at the fourth column and how easy it is to deal with compared to counting every stinkin' click.

This stuff can be so easy.

OOPS. I forgot to set the zero for 100 yards. Pretend that the zero is set at 250 yards (which is totally unrealistic unless it is a point blank range setting) But you can see how the MOA+clicks is more user friendly than the other options.

Forky,
I really like that! The other one I like though it does not give it in MOA+CLICKS is Exbal in my Pocket Pc, it will only give you like 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, meaning MOA+decimals of MOA but will not give you like 5.3 or 5.8 but would be like 5.25 or 5.75 where for some reason is less stress for me... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif just getting old!
0.25 = 1 click
0.50 = 2 clicks
0.75 = 3 clicks
This might not mean anything to someone else, but for some reason it just works for me. Man I hope I was able to explain that! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

4kd,

Could you post a screen shot of the input values for that chart?

Me thinks its a right brained program and I'm a left brained knucklehead, or vise versa /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
