Only thing I would do different is drill through and put a t-nut or a weld nut through the bottom, that is already threaded, because using a tap on half inch steel takes a while, especially three times.

Very nice, and portable. For several years I've just used a 1 ft piece of 4"x4" with a pic rail screwed onto it that I strapped down to my bench.
