Anyone ever seen or heard of a heater for your rifle scope? Whenever I'm roaming around the farm knocking out pests and birds, sometimes I've got to take out nuisances in the barn. If the weather is cold; coming into the warm buildings from outside guarantees my scope lenses will fog up (or frost up if extremely cold). I thought if I could keep the scope warm I could avoid this. My first thought was to take a battery hunting sock and modify that to wrap the scope up tight.

Anyone dealt with a similar issue? If not I'll post back once I come up with a solution.

I'm not sure. It was my understanding they used rainguard on their whole lineup. I got to thinking though; will it work if not perfectly clean? I do have a tendency to get chaff and dust all over that gun...

Here is a trick from an old guy. Turn your hat around backwards before shouldering the rifle. The brim on your hat will trap just enough heat to fog the scope. Turn your hat around or take it off and you will have much more time to make the shot. The scope will fog when you come back in the house if you don't put the rifle in a case outside, bring it in cased, and let it warm slowly in the house. Actually the whole gun will sweat, including the metal covered by the stock.

Milk house in this case, but this is what I'm trying to avoid. Sometimes it's necessary to pass thru, and once I'm clear I'd like to figure out a way to not have a layer of frost on my lenses. Either by somehow keeping the scope warm, or a coating that prevents the frosting

I sure would not put anything on my scope lens taking a chance to damage the coating. To keep your scope warm, you might use a Scopecoat or similar scope sleeve with a small HotHands packet inside.

The only thing I know is to avoid rapid cooling/heating. I don't think there is a product that will avoid condensation with an instant 60deg temp change. Maybe there are places in the desert that you could get away with it, but where we live there is just too much moisture in the air.

I'm leaning towards the heated sock method first. It wouldn't have to be continuous either; just activate it a few minutes before moving to the warmer, more humid buildings.
