My buddy is looking at a 111 LRH in 338 Lapua and we were talking about how he should be able to upgrade anything he doesnt like about it if there is anything. My question is, Does the accustock model have a different recoil lug to fit the accustock? of can you put an accustock on any savage or any aftermarket stock on an accustock model? Or would you have to change the recoil lug?

Morning Mike, I could have been smoking crack for breakfast but, If memory serves me correctly, the accustock is just a different way of attaching the stock to the action. I can't see any reason a manufacturer would go through the pains of retooling & creating different process for producing a different lug design?? Just rambling of course:rolleyes: I do happen to know a good 'smith in Sturgis that can CNC inlet pretty much any stock for pretty much any action.....:D

BTW- how is that 260 coming?

That is what I kind of figured, 260 is at a stand still as of right now trying to decide what to do.

Ah yes, I was in that situation for SOOO long with the 6.5 WSM, I finally have to tell myself to either Sh$% or get off the pot!

I expect to have my bbl back this week from fluting! What are you debating on?

Mike,

I don't have the .338, but on the other savages, they use a shorter recoil lug for the accustocks than the "standard" savage recoil lug. You can buy the different lugs on midway.

a lot of different things, 260 or ai? heavy or light? frankenstince super budget build or all new top quality parts. keep the LA or sell it and but a SA...Buy a tikka and have sin arms put a 260 bbl on it for me....lots of things going through my head...

I can't view youtube here but try this, might be what you're looking for?

Savage Arms > AccuStockSavage Arms > Accuracy

According to this video, they changed how the AccuStock works. It use to have a clamping mechanism to hold the recoil lug tight. Now it looks like it just drops in. Interesting how they changed that. Guess they ran into too many problems with people taking them out of the stocks and screwing up the accuracy from factory.

Wow, looks like they keep upgrading! LOL

My earlier statements were for the clamped down accustock lug, don't have any of the "newest" rendition.

I noticed that too., the clear ones they have for display in the sporting goods stores have the wedge block, The other thing I noticed is in the headspace video they left out the head space gauge, they just said screw the barrel till its tight against the reciever and tighten the nut and walaa! perfect head space... Makes me wonder if the accustock video isnt just flawed also

The AI has intrigued me for a long time, but i'm a bit of a speed freak:D. I would think the LA would allow a lot more flexability when playing with different bullets & seating depths w/o being a single shot, which I can't freaking stand:rolleyes:. I tend to lean towards top quality builds anymore... always the "what if?" factor ya know? Buy once, cry once...gun)

if i do a big heavy sucker itll be a single shot and thats the way im leaning hence thinking about a SA

In the video, it still looks like they are using the short "accustock" recoil lug.

I just opened up a brand new 204 and that is a shorter lug

- I needed to true the action for a customer and always change the lug for one of my ground lugs

- all I did was open up the slot in front of the lug for the thickness and shorten my lug for the depth.
