savage mod. 11 in 6.8spc

Hi everyone. I recently started building a lightweight hunting rifle in 6.8spcii for my 6 year old son. I picked up a cheap mod.11 savage in 243 for him to use here in Missouri for deer season. I hoped he could use the 243 but its a bit to much for is small frame. I also wanted one for myself as a small truck gun to take the same ammo as my ar15. The only problem I'm having is the magazine. Have any of you converted one of these? Any info or tips would be helpful. Oh and the factory mag is a staggard feed.
