I just started shooting my brother's Savage 112 BVSS in .223. I originally thought it was a single shot rifle but it definitely has an internal magazine. The magazine is VERY difficult to load because you need to get the cartridge part way into the chamber before you can depress the rear of the cartridge and slide it back under the magazine lips. The receiver opening is rather small and this makes things even more difficult. Bullets don't easily enter the chamber because the barrel is large in diameter with a small chamber opening in the middle. Invariably, the bullet nose hits the barrel below the chamber opening and gets stuck there.
Is it possible that I'm doing something wrong? You can't single round feed off the top of the magazine lips either because the bullet tip hits the bottom of the barrel and jams. Is there an easy way to convert this into a single shot that's easy to feed? Like, drop in - close bolt.
Seems like a really dumb problem, or is it just me?????????????
