Same barrel on different action?

Ok I have a Bighorn origin action and have a savage with an aftermarket barrel that shoot great. But I just don't like the savage action doesn't feel good it the cheap axis. Would my load development change if I switched this barrel to the new bighorn action?

Could change harmonics on the fit to a different action.

Ok so might just need to change the powder charge a little bit? I'm coming into a new lot of powder anyways so it might change a little.

It will most likely be very close but there's always a slight chance that it will be way off. Only one way to find out. Goodluck

Not sure if the threads are the same since I dont know bighorns. Headspace will need fixed so I am guessing the load will need tweaked. I've swapped a barrel from a rem700 action to a tikka and it liked the load, but needed a bit of tweaking.

Yea the bighorn action is the same threads. Ok I'll make sure to record the headspace on the brass before and after firing and give it a try. I will headspace the barrel with the same set of head space gauges i used on the savage action too.

I'm ignorant to bighorns. Are you doing a remage setup? When I say "check headspace" I meant from receiver face to bolt face when closed and compare with a gauge in the barrel to the barrel shoulder. Sorry if I'm being confusing

Yea it's a barrel but like a remage. The bighorn actions have the same threads as a savage so you can use savage prefit barrels. So this barrel doesn't have a shoulder.

Thank you. Now I know far more about big horns than I did before (zero). Sounds pretty straightforward if you can headspace like a savage

I've done it on a savage to savage and it actually worked great. The Bighorn is a much more precise action so I can't see that turning out bad just on that. Harmonics will be the deciding factor. Do it. Not like it's a bad idea in any way.

Not really that big of a deal should just have to adjust the powder charge just a little bit I would think. This barrel is a tack driver I just checked it the other day shot three shot group that was 1/4" moa or so at 100yards. Just don't like the action it's on.
