My Son wanted me to load some 204 Ruger for him, & not sure about the primers he provided? He bought 6 1/2 Rem. primers but none of my manuals list them ? Most my manuals say Rem 7 1/2, CCI 400, or Fed205m? The CCI 400 is in the same class as the Rem. 6 1/2, so was not sure if it is safe to use them or not? Anyone have any ideas or experience loading Ruger 204?

Remington 6 1/2 primers are small rifle primers and will be fine. Remington 7 1/2 are small rifle Bench rest primers. No difference, just are suppose to be held to tighter specs.

Good to know my father used them in his triple deuce for BR comps for several years before going to the 6 ppc, this has been along time ago guess he was shooting a lower pressure load as this was just 100 and 200 yards. I will ask him if he remembers ever having any issues

I only use 7.5 remingtons and BR 4 CCI in my .204 Ruger. They have a much thicker cup....

The CCI BR 4 & the CCI 450 have the same cup thickness so I assume the CCI 450 will work? But the 450 cup has a smaller diameter, so probably will be loose in the pocket after a few loadings?

I have shot the BR 4's and the 450's in a 6.5cm and .204 ruger with same load and found zero difference in performance. I treat them as one and the same... I typically try to stay away from top end loads so my primer pockets go quite aways....
