Don't believe all the BS you read on forums. here is the truth. Here is Alliant's email response to my email.

It is still being made and by no means discontinued.

Currently the bulk of the issue with powder (all powder companies) is the Lack of Nitrocellulose. Nitrocellulose is a key component in double base powders. All our powders are double base. The shortage of Nitrocellulose is caused from supply and demand. There are only two suppliers that manufacture Nitrocellulose. One out of the two currently shut down for the foreseeable future. Causing our current shortage. We only sale to distributors, who then sale to retailers. Distributors can sale any where at any time. They do not share that information with us.

Fixed it for you.

Many of us have been aware for many months:

Posted by PVO on May 9, 2024 -

FYI – we have just received the following message from Vista Outdoors (the parent company of Alliant Powders): "Due to the worldwide shortage of nitrocellulose, the Vista Outdoor supply agreement for the sale of Alliant Powder canisters has been suspended for an unknown period. At this time, we have no timeline for the fulfillment and will be canceling outstanding Alliant orders in our system. Representatives will provide updates and coordinate new orders based on availability." We have heard mixed messages from various powder suppliers about the availability of nitrocellulose, and therefore powder, over the past several months. This is one Manufacturer's analysis of the situation. We are posting this so you can have all the information we have and draw whatever conclusions are right for you.

It is not really a Shortage of "NITROCELLULOSE" It is just being sold to the Governments to build up their Fighting Supply that was depleted the past few years with all the Wars going on and no resupply. Now with this new Administration in we will see even less for the Public Population Consumption. We the "USA" needs to build back our Fighting Supply, so our USA Country comes first!!!!! "NITROCELLULOSE" is used in just about everything that goes BOOM! We need it for our Marines, Army, Navy, AirForce, Coast Guard.
We had RL-26 about two years ago and gave away several LBS to help out members. Never thought that the price would go up to $150.00 a pound. CRAZY and people taking advantage of each other.

you left out the space force!

The "shortage" of nitro makes no sense. Unless the supplier is discriminating against Alliant for some unknown reason I'm not buying it. All the powder that's continually being restocked everywhere I look contains nitro....Or maybe those companies have been hoarding it right next to all the toilet paper. Which isn't likely either.

Please provide a more believable response Kenetic Group.

The US should maintain a manufacturing base of all necessary war materials and energy. It's a national security issue.
