I have an x-bolt in .308 that I am changing scopes on. It currently wears a Burris Fullfield II with a 1" tube. I am switching to a Leupold vx-6 3-18x44SF with of course a 30mm tube. The outside diameter of the objective is 2.1" or 53.34 mm, with scope covers it would be about 56mm ish.
As you all know ring choices are a bit limited for the x-bolt. I intend to use the Talley lightweights for the X-bolt, which has the built in base. The ring height on these are measured from receiver to bottom of where scope tube will rest.
If I have calculated correctly, I believe I can get by with the Talley lows which have heights as follows:
Low: Front .43" Rear .51"
Med: Front .53" Rear .61"
High: Front .63" Rear .71"
What has me confused is the height difference between front and rear. I hate to assume but anticipate the front height is the number to use. I would appreciate if someone could check my math as I would like to get the rings ordered and I have no local source to check them or return if I order incorrectly. According to the ring height chart on Midway Usa's sight I think the lows will work. Any help/input is appreciated.
