Rifle stock painting

DIY

I had spray pained one in FDE but didnt like it so I used Citristrip to remove the old paint so I could paint it again. For Citristrip just follow the instructions on the bottle.

I purchased the Rust-Oleum Camoflauge Spray paints in Brown, Green and Tan. I also purchased a Primer Base in matte black.

I applied the black base first, did 2 applications for a solid base, let it dry about an hour between applications.

I then applied the brown camouflage paint by spraying the paint into a foam plate and applied it with a porous sponge and let it dry well for about an hour. When applying it do it in a random pattern as you can see on the attached image. Then applied the green and waited another hour for it to dry. Finished it up with the tan color and done.

You can make it more brown, green or tan depending on how much you want apply of each paint.

I did not apply a sealer since they end up giving the stock a shiny finish.

The stock actually looks way better than in the picture.

Hope this helps.
