Rifle for 10 year old.

I'm thinking maybe a Bighorn Origin, 20" carbon barrel in .223 and a Manners MCS-CS. This way I can swap bolt heads and go bigger when needed and then adjust the stock as needed when she grows. And if she ends up not wanting to hunt I'll have a Bighorn to build myself something.

That's a terrible commie state. A 223 bolt gun trainer would be a great option then swap out for a 6mm something for the hunt. I'm partial to a 243!

I just bought a Mossberg Patriot Youth in 243 Win for my 10 year old. Composite stock, with spacers to add as he grows. Initial fit with zero spacers was perfect.

Comes with a cheap 3-9X scope, but functional.

$349 + tax at my local Academy.

Worked up a reduced recoil load of 100gr Interlocks with IMR-4064. 32gr shot 2500 fps at 3/4" at 100 yards. Less than 7 ft-lbs recoil.

My buddy started his kid at 8 using his AR15 - which worked out perfect due to the adjustable / collapsible stock.

My daughter has been shooting a Cricket and 10/22 for a couple years and is ready to upgrade. She'll be legal to deer hunt in 2 years so I'd like to get her started on a rifle sooner rather than later.

Deer around here aren't hard to kill or very big. So I'm leaning towards .223, .22 Creed, .243 win or 6 Creed. With a removable brake.

My dilemma is the stock, I cannot figure out what would work for such a small child??? I read that the Weatherby Camilla is a good one but it still looks too big in pictures?

Thoughts???

I just looked those up...they look nice for the price!! They even have a muddy girl camo version that would match her little Cricket...

I bought my 7 year old daughter (50" tall and 40 lbs) a rem 700 in 223, put a chassis on it with an adjustable stock. Works wonderfully. I also put a break on it. We wear hearing protection and she shoots exceptionally well with this set up. She shot a 143" Texas Hill Country buck on New Years Day.

I messed around with youth stocks for my kids and finally bought him a chassis, being able to adjust the length of pull and cheek height to get a proper fit made noticeable improvements on his shooting, also that vertical grip made it easier for their little hands to get in the trigger guard. This is my 10 year olds first buck he shot last week. Also chassis makes mounting to a tripod to shoot standing and sitting a lot easier, I don't care to much for the saddles that clamp to the gun. He's shooting a 300wsm here, he has a 260 but lucky kid drew a bull tag for November and said he wanted to build confidence with the 300wsm so wanted to kill his deer with it, suppressor really takes it down

when my grandson turned 14 2 years ago i bought him a tikka t3x compact (expandable butt stock) .243.
a very friendly rifle for a young shooter as well as being formidably accurate.

Take a look at the adjustable chassis from xlr. Also Vikingarmament.com
They build a large number of youth rifle's. 6Creedmoor is the caliber of choice in the ultralight setup.
