After building 4 each 300WMs, 2 each 30-06, a 7RM, long barreled 260, a 280A1 the last 2-1/2 years, I am going back to the similar rifle I killed more TX WT with - previously owned 788 in 7-08 carbine. I let a buddy talked me in selling it to him. I have since longed for another. But got sidetracked with Magnums and longer reaching configs. Now, that I killed WTs with the 300WM, 280AI, 7RM, and with a 28 inch 30-06, I am going retro. The place I harvest WTs now the longest shot is only 350, shortest is 240. The 7-08 should be plenty.

Early 2000s I bought this pristine 788 18-1/2 carbine in 7-08, it did not have any rounds through it when I bought it. It has been leaning in the back of one of the safes all these years. Finally dug it out, bought a Boyd's laminate. Mark Pharr from Tumbleweedsrifles.com bedded it and another friend finished the stock..

Bummer with 788s, the rear action screw is 12-28. Could not recall what I did with the one for this rifle. I had to make one from 1/4x20 flathead.

Took it out today to see where 2000MR will pressure out launching 140 VLDH. Brass are Remingtom UBR with SRP. Primers are 205 MAR. Lupy 3.5x10, duplex. CBTO = 2.228 using Creedmoor Nut. COL = 2.860

Will do another pressure test once I get my 120 HH, which according to Steve the package shipped.

Appears the 140 VLDH is near perfect for the magasine. Boat tail above the shoulder junction and tip clears the mag well.
