Researching new rifle.

I'm looking at a Savage .243 for hunting both deer and coyote.
Any suggestions for models to buy, weather it has a longer barrel or a heavy barrel, wood stock or synthetic or step up to a .308 caliber?
Most shots will be under 300 yards, but the mod. 10 Predator series is the one I'm leaning towards.

The 10 predator is an excellent choice. You might want to consider posting your query at the GD forum since not everyone frequent the member intro forum.
