my m8 wants to buy a very accurate rifle but he doesnt want to get one with a match barel. what rifle would you recomend for him. he is planing to shoot it out to 1000+ yards.

Savage. One with a heavy 26 inch barrel. I just recieved a model 12 in .308 caliber

What are you meaning by "match barrel", generally a match grade barrel is more conducive to LR shooting because of quality or are you meaning a heavier barrel contour?

Like bigngreen stated, "match" just means better quality.

So, are stating that your m8 intentionally wants a poor quality barrel?

Or, does he want a high quality, inexpensive, sporter weight barrel?

AHH ok. by what l said l ment he didnt want a tactical rifle. cause thay arnt allowed over here. but Varmit rifels are allowed. l was thinking of the Remington VTR.? how is the VTR at long range?

I've seen a couple articles now that have had the VTR listed, but any rifle with a 26" heavy or medium weight barrel is going to give you optimum performance at longer ranges. Some have suggested the Mod 12 Savage. That would be an excellent choice, but there is also the 11 and 111 Long Range Hunter that would fit the bill. They are not tactical rifles. They have some special features from factory that are conducive to long range shooting. You want to look for rifles with a good stock, and either pillar bedding or aluminum bedding in the stock. Savages are nice because they offer the Accu-trigger that can be adjust from around 2 pound pull to around a 6 pound pull. 2 to 3 pound trigger pull is where you want it to be for hunting, but I prefer less.

I've read mixed reviews on the VTR, I would do a lot of research on it before buying. You don't see them talked about much in here and there's probably a reason for it.

yeah your right wiped the VTR out of my mind. But l have heard some bad things about the sendero here aswel ? does any one have any experience with the TİKKA T3 SUPER VARMİT ? Would it be a good capable rifle out to 1000+ yards with 300WM?

300WM in the Tikka T3 would be a good rifle.
