Remington 300 RUM brass discontinued

Long range hunting isn't the only place that wants 300 rum cases I was thinking if a guy talked to him and said hey when ya Gonna make another run of 300 rum cases to sell to every distributor he has could you add x amount for people on longrange hunting. Not asking him to make brass for an obscure wildcat that only I have the reamer for.

Good luck with that !
Bruce Bertram is a businessman first and extremely busy manufacturer second, and has min. limits and large quotas to fill for the best buck to be made, whining and trying to appeal to him will not get you anywhere, but you can try and cry, up to you ......

Why not just get the Norma 300 RUM brass at $2.00 each ? It's available if you know where to look, if it's out of stock check back occasionally and they'll have some in, I've accumulated a good supply of Norma brass for my 338 Edge that way

Every pay check I buy a box of Nosler 25ct 338 RUM brass. Because I fear that once nosler stops making it, that'll be the end of my Poor Man Lapua.

man swamp you got your panties in a bunch over this whole deal. Did I say I was going to call him up and cry to him saying I need 100 pieces of rum brass don't ya think you could fire your plant up to make it for me. No I said if the next time he is running we were to say hey were good for x amount of brass on top of what you already have sold, seems like good business sense to me to pump another x amount out while your at it and sell just that many more. I don't think I said we could ask for it at a discounted rate either.

I know where brass is available at and I have a good supply in stock but WHY not get the best brass available? If rum brass dries up and disappears forever I will just rebarrel like sully said.

Re-barreling is a WHOLE lot cheaper!!....:D

I'd like to give you guff on this but you are correct about re-barreling to rectify a brass shortage... I'm thinking about the 26 and 28 nos cartridges when my 300rum sporter barrel goes to barrel heaven. I have enough brass for a couple of rum rifles, and I have three rum's at present. If it was belted.... well I'd shove something else in the die and blow it out.... The rums can't be formed as easily from other cartridges so a trip to the 'smith may be in order at some future time.

So I've been thinking about the same thing re-barrel to a 28NOS. Not anytime soon. Looking at the load ballistically speaking some where around 1200yards the 28 will be out doing the RUM well at least on the numbers I ran. I was looking at the 230 OTM which is what I shoot in my 300 and bumping the speed up to 3000fps. It currently loaded at 2940ish fps. But anyway I think the best choice is the 28. Would be the best bang for the buck in my mind with the current brass shortage. 3 different Sportmans and out of 300 RUM brass. Now I could of got the 7rum and necked it up which is what I have now. But I do like the correct stamped heads.

Its cheaper to buy factory ammo and knock the bullet out. I got lucky and found 4 boxes of reduced recoil 300RUM on closeout at my LGS. Ive been doing this for some time now w/ 300WSM and 300RUM

+1
The reduced recoil is great ammo for the range and certain hunting situations and can be fire formed at the same time to your chamber.

It is a good source of brass because the ammo manufactures would prefer that we just buy there ammo. and have little interest in selling components.

See? I wasnt yanking your doodle. If a person has some odd ball cartridge that components just cant be had for...re-chamber or rebarrel instead of fighting the oddball.

Remington has definitely gone to the dark side on the components.
I have been using Norma. Bought another 1400 pieces.
Sold 600 of them. Have a thou norma and 400 remington
for my rifles.
It sucks but it is here. Make the best of it.

Drives me nuts that Remington comes out with new cartridges and then doesn't support their own products by producing enough components. Hell they don't even chamber enough rifles in their own cartridges. 260 Remington should of been sitting at the top but because they failed to support their own cartridge other 6.5s have taken the cake. As well as the RUM line up. Great cartridges with very little support and at this point seemed doomed.

How many people have actually taken the time to send a letter, call or email to Remington to complain ?
How else would they know ?
