I bought a McMillian Game Warden 2.0 with a Rem 700 SA BDL cutout. I also purchased a Hawkins M5 Detachable Bottom Metal. Until now I didn't know there was a distinction in length between the two. The M5 is 1/4" longer, but the action screw holes line up perfectly. Can a gunsmith use a Dremel tool to fit the M5 DBM without ruining the stock?

Yeah, that's a common gunsmithing task. Should run you around 90 bucks

Not exactly, there is a depth of cut difference as well. You are better off sending it out to be re-inletted or swapped out for the BDL bottom metal.
I decided to swap it out for BDL bottom metal. This will be a Varmint/Predator rifle, I don't need a DBM after all. I have two other rifles that have DBMs
