I have an extra Tikka T3 6.5 Swede. I'm thinking I would like to have it re-chambered to 6.5-06. Would that be economically feasible? Would it be as easy as having a gunsmith run a new reamer through? Should there be any problems with the bolt face? Anything else I might not have thought of?

The head of the 6.5 Swede is 0.480" in diameter whereas the head of the 6.5-06 is only 0.470" in diameter. One does not clean up the other.

On the other hand, you could use the 6.5x55 Ackley Improved to gain some significance over the original chamber. There is a version which you might find labeled 6.5x55 BJAI for Bob Jourdan AI.

thanks Sable. I've found the same after doing some pretty intense searching.I think the Improved solution is the way to go.
