I was wondering if it would be worth it to rechamber to the bigger round. I have about 450 rounds through this gun so far and am getting about 2850 fps with 210 Bergers. I have room in the magazine to go to about 3.785" COAL.
Barrel is 26" so I am not sure what kind of velocity gain I would get.

Thanks.

You should be able to push it faster, but you will max out at 2950 to 3000 fps. If you go to a 300 RUM you will be able to push the 210 around 3200 fps max. It is a significant gain, but your barrel will pay for the extra velocity.

I sure wouldn't do it. I feel the 300 win has plenty to offer you. With 210's you can get good velocity. Good brass is available and throat life is great with the Win. I feel the 300 and 210's are a great gun out to 1000 yards for even Elk. The win will do just fine for this and practice is cheaper too.

You would have to make that call if the extra fps is worth that much. The 300 win mag is a very good cartridge and with 450 rounds through it I don't think I would change it up. I have two 300 ultramags with 28" barrels and both max out at 3200 fps so with the 26" drop that 40-50 fps. If your rifle is accurate I would not change it. If the accuracy you want is not there then rebarrel it but I wouldn't rechamber.

Iv had both and I would keep it a 300 win. The extra velocity isn't worth all the extra recoil, boom, powder, barrel wear, etc.... That just my opinion though, do what you want to do, after all its your gun. Good Luck!

What brand of good brass are you referring to? Lapua used to make 300 Win Mag brass but I no more than purchased a box of 100 2-3 years ago and shortly thereafter learned that they dropped the 300 Win Mag from their production. You talking RWS?

I use Lapua mostly. But I have a stock pile of RWS too. I have been stashing these two for a while now. I just bought a new box of 100 Lapua's in the box a month or so ago. (Private Sale) If you keep your eyes open it turns up once in a while. Wanna sell yours???:) If so pm me.

To tell you the truth WW brass in a 300 is not too bad either. But in no way is it Lapua.

Bottom line, if a guy has 100 300 win Lapua's and he does not abuse it he will be good for quite a while.

Fair enough. I just wanted to make sure I was keeping up to date on brass options for the 300 Win Mag. Agree that 100 Lapua cases will last a good long while. thanks,
