? re: front rifle rest position

Just wondering if there is a best place to position a rifle on the front rifle rest. Right now when I shoot from a bench I place the rifle so that the front rest sits almost beneath the front receiver ring. Is this okay or should the rifle be resting farther out on the forearm?

Had the same question awhile back.The answer that made the most sence to me was to place the front rest to the position of where your leading hand will grip the forearm in a hunting situation.FWIW.

That makes sense. I think, based on pictures I've been looking at in my Precision Shooting magazines, that I should rest the rifle farther out on the forend. I'm going to try it and see what effect it has on my shooting.
