So, about to start installation and feeding for a 264 WM, 24" X-Caliber, 1:8, 5R.

Curious what velocity people are getting for the svelte but heavy pills in their setups. Talking 156 EOL, 147 ELDM, 153 ATIP, etc.

Please adjust your velocity for a 24" barrel BEFORE VOTING.
Just estimate it at 25 fps per inch. For example: 3000 fps in a 26" barrel...3000 - ((26-24)x25) = 2950 fps or 2900 fps in a 22" barrel...2900 - ((22-24))x25 = 2950 fps. Obviously this isn't exactly moon shot science, but it's close enough for an internet poll.

Also, to be clear, I'm not talking about "This one time at band camp I got 3300 fps", but actual accuracy loads you all have settled on and feed your rifles.

You can choose two speeds, in case your setup runs right between the choices.

If you'd be willing, also post your load and rifle info below, with as much detail as possible.

Just for fun, post what you think the average will be after 20 responses. There's no real reward for being right, but I'll give a like to whoever get's closest!

My guess is 2975 fps.

With a 150 SMK you should be able to safely reach 3,000 - 3,025 FPS with good accuracy and low SD. The fastest powder I would personally consider is H1000, and slower powders will give you a better case fill ratio. The last two 264win rifles I've worked with both settled in with Norma 217. One 26" 9 twist barrel ran the 143 ELDX with best accuracy at 3,068. I found that rifle would safely send that bullet at up to 3,225, but the SD was more than 100 FPS.

The 147 and 156 are a little different, my load with the 147 was 3240 fps, about 20 fps under where pressure signs appeared, and with the 156 EOL I maxed out at about 3175-3200 but my best accuracy was at 3070 fps. That is a 26" 7.5 twist barrel, HBN coated, with Retumbo.

This is what I see with the 156. This is with a SAAMI throat, seated WAY deep.
