Question about loading for 3006

Referring to the TTSX, have loaded a ton of those in my 308 win. Barnes bullets love a good jump to the lands. I always start at .060 of the lands. Once I find my OCW load, I then try farther to see if I can get improvement.
the great thing about Hammer bullets is that they don't care how much jump or little that you load them

Somewhat true but there's always a sweet spot for accuracy and it definitely matters for pressure. Same has happened for me with the Badlands, Barnes, and Hammers but there always seems to be that one range of seating depth they perform better, accuracy and pressures.

For 500 and in, deer and hogs, I would load Speer BTSP in 150 or 165 grains or 168 A-Max, H4350 is a superb choice for all of them though with the 150 I would definitely try Varget as well. All three of these bullets are very accurate, easy to load and kill extremely well. They are also some of the lowest price bullets out there so you can afford to shoot a lot. Sierra Gamekings are also very good, but cost considerably more than the bullets I previously mentioned. I don't see the need to try to make a '06 into a magnum or complicated loading, they typically shoot really well without a lot of work and good old cup and core bullets work amazingly well at normal '06 speeds.

Good post. Provably accurate.

I just recently picked up a cz557 3006, it has a 20 in barrel and a 1:10 twist. I bought some factory ammo in 150,165,168,170,175gr. and had terrible results. I loaded some of the brass from the factory ammo with some speer 190g and 185 Berger hunters and my groups shrunk from like 2 inches to 0.80. Seems to like heavier loads. Question is should I try a heavier bullet and if so what do you suggest. Thanks in advance, I just don't have any experience with 3006.
I reload for a Rem700 24"barrel 1:10 twist. 47.2gr IMR3031, 165gr Nosler Partitions, CCI200 Primers, Federal cases, .020 off the lands. Gives me 1" groups at 200yds. Longest shot at 340yds. Kills deer every year for 35 years. And they usually drop where they stood. Only one tracking job in all that time. Never Chronographed it but it certainly gets the job done so I'm not questioning success.

my .06 has an 18 inch barrel suppressed and I am shooting the 150 gr Power Hammer mono bullet at 2942fps using 57.5 gr of H4350 with a Fed 215 primer and shooting 3/4" groups at 200 yards, I have shoot plenty of deer with this load and so far 13 animals in Africa with it all have been one shot kills and only 2 bullets recovered and will be going again in April for 8-10 more animals. if I was you I would also get a suppressor for that as it has a good muzzle blast
My 150 hammers came in yesterday so I loaded up and went to the range today. Shot absolutely lights out with 57g of h4350. I only shot 3 round groups because the pencil barrel heats up fast and I was in a rush. Three groups of 3 average .470 IMG_5823.jpeg

It will work more often than not. Just don't get greedy and pushing it once that bullet comes into the group. I have walked many flyers into the .3's - .4's. Expecting more is silly from a hunting rifle but initial improvements walking a flyer in, works in most rifles.

Awesome, like I said it's a pencil barreled rifle to use as a spare hunting rifle for under 500 yards, but I will try your method. I have never tried it.
