question abour lapua brass

Hello all I have a quick queston about changing brass. Currently I am shooting crappy federal brass out of my 243, but yesterday I bought a box of 100 lapua brass. I know all the tollerances are far superior so how much is the new brass going to affect my load ? am i going to need to start over with load development? or will they be close? and with quallity brass like lapua do you see much of a change in accuracy between new and once fired? keep in mind I always f/l size anyways.

Well, a guy wanted to be a nice guy and threw a couple of Lapua cases into a batch of Winchester cases and I about blew my rifle apart because I did not realize that the interior dimensions were so much different. So my advice is that if you don't want to drop the charge a grain or so and rework the load then make sure that you let your mother in law take the first few shots.

Can it be MY mother in law you use for this in the future?
I don't want to sound patronising,but you always MUST drop your loads a few grains when changing ANY components in your handloads,if not your 'Dancing with the DEVIL'.
It is fundamental that you ALWAYS do this,guns aren't cheap,and your life is priceless!

Just weighed some win. & lap. brass, about 15grns. difference in weight!
Better adjust your load.

Laupa can afford to make better brass for reloaders. What is it, about three times the price of bulk American brass? For the differnce in price, I'll just stick with crappy US makes and select my cases for accuracy.

i just got some 300wm lapua cases.the federal gm cases i have been useing weight 247.5 gr and the lapua weight in at 217.5 sure seems like alot of differance how much do guys think i should lower my load of 79gr 4831 over 180 gr ab before working back 2or 3 gr

Thanks for everyone's responses I pretty much knew I would have to start over with load development which is fine. I just wanted some reassurance from some of the people on this board with experience. I loaded up some new loads starting lower and working my way back up to my current load. My current load with the federal brass was on the cooler side because this is gun is mostly used for target shooting, so I was concerned with accuracy more than having the fastest bullet out there, so hopefully the better brass will tighten things up a little more. As for using US made brass, I guess it depends on what your purpose is, but I realized working with quality brass is like night and day, and as for consistency from case to case: just weigh and measure some lapua, then do the same to some rem or win brass. Using the good stuff sure saves time on the sorting end of things.
