Anyone with experience with Proof Research Barrels? Looking to rebarrel my Savage model 11 with a 26"/8 twist barrel. I want to shoot the 105 Amax and the 105 Berger. Any idea what kind of MV's I should get with the 26" barrel?
Thanks,
Jim

I think you'll be fine with any of the carbon barrels really. Word is that most firms wrap their barrels differently. How that affects performance, idk.

I personally have a Christensen that I'm very happy with. No complaints.

Assuming 243 Winchester, I get 2975 fps with R17 and the 105 AMax. I get 3176fps with R26. Go to alliants website and work up from their data. Both loads shoot sub .5 MOA for me. Consistently over the last 300 rounds. I have a 25" barrel.

I have shot several proof rifles and rifles with proof barrels. Also just recently had a Rifle built using a rem 700 S/A and a proof barrel. It shoots great with very little load development. Proof is the only carbon barrel brand I have tried but have no complaints and they will shoot just as well as any of the other top barrel manufacturers.

CA is dead on. Pick somebody reputable and you should be set. There aren't too many companies out there making absolute garbage to sell. And everybody makes lemons. It happens. Find somebody with good CS.
