Feb 25, 2024 - Recap of the URSA NorCal Feb '24 event (by RD, Lynn Dragoman; build info and notes from Oscar) Well, we finally had a break in the weather and got to shoot some matches. In match 1 our own RickyRacer87 took home the win after a sudden death shoot-off with Calshipbuilder at 2600 yards. Way to go RickyRacer87!!! In match 2 I used a borrowed rear bag from Calshipbuilder and my .375 Cheytac allowed me to sneak in a win against RickyRacer87. The weather was fantastic allowing Jim R, Calshipbuilder, RickyRacer87, and Amanda to all qualify for the 3K, hopefully to be held in April. Jim R was shooting a hunting rifle in .375 Cheytac to get 8 hits in 10 shots at 2147 yards to score his first achievement point. He was 2 for 3 in practice then went 7 straight and quit shooting until he was informed he had 3 more shots. Outstanding shooting for a guy who has shot with us only a few times. Amanda, against a field of tough shooters, scored her first achievement point with 5 hits. Next match will be the 3rd Sunday in March (the 17th) …if it's not raining. Match 1 Winner, and Match 2 Runner-Up, RickyRacer87, was shooting 299 gr. (David Tubb) DTAC's (with nose ring) out of his Billy Goat Machine-built 33XC with BGM Ovis (Defiance Deviant Tactical) action, 31" Lothar Walther bull barrel, Manners T-5A stock, and Nightforce 7-35x56 ATACR scope on ERATAC 0-70 MOA base and rings. Match 1 Runner-Up, Calshipbuilder, was shooting 299 gr. (David Tubb) DTAC's (with nose ring) out of his 3D Precision-built 33XC with Barnard PL action, 32" Bartlein barrel, McMillan A5 stock, and Tangent Theta 5-25x56 scope with Spuhr rings on a 45 MOA Barnard rail. Match 2 Winner, Lynn, was shooting 400 gr. Cutting Edge Lazers out of his Tamagni-barreled .375 CT with Stiller TAC 408 (TAC DRIVER) action, Bartlein 36" barrel, McMillan LBR stock, March 5-42 Wide Angle High Master scope, and Burris XTR rings on a 70 MOA Pic rail. Amanda was shooting 300 gr. Hornady A-Tips out of her Savage 111 Long Range Hunter (factory action and stock) with 32" Bartlein barrel, chambered in .338 LM Improved by Jim's Precision, and Nightforce 7-35x56 ATACR scope on ERATAC 0-70 MOA base and rings (on the 20 MOA Savage factory rail). Jim R was shooting 350 gr. Sierra Match Kings (SMKs) out of his Benchmark-chambered .375 CT with Stiller TAC 408 (TAC DRIVER) 1.450 action, Benchmark 27" barrel, McMillan A3-5 stock, and Nightforce 7-35x56 ATACR scope with Nightforce rings on a special-order 60 MOA Stiller rail.
