I am looking at getting a spotting scope but am unsure as to what to do. I was going to get a Leupold Golden Ring HD but then started thinking that I should hold off and just save up another $2k and get a swarovski spotting scope. I will most likely have this spotting scope that I buy for the rest of my life. So what do you all think? Should I go ahead and drop $1,000 for the Leupold or wait and save up another $2k and get the swarovski.

I would take a good look at a Zen Ray spotter. They are around 1k. Before I bought anything else I would definately try to test one out. I haven't looked through one, but thaere are some very good reviews of it.

My wife has the NON "HD" version of the leupold and it alone would do all you want. I have a 65mm Pentax that covers me. But between Leupold; Kowa and Swaroski , one of their scope would do you fine. Spend the amount that you can AFFORD and dont look back. All 3 brands will last you your life regardless.
(Bought the Leo for the wife back in 1987...has worked superb ever since)
