Just thought I'd put a post here to let everyone know that one of this forum's members is now in the record books.

Oliver (aka Oliveralan ) is a frequent "poster" here. He is a great kid who will go far in the shooting community, actually he's already well on his way. I had the honor of meeting him a few months back. He deserves some recognition for it.

Great shootin' Oliver !!!

Congratulations Oliver !!!!! I had the pleasure of hunting with Oliver during a woodchuck hunt this spring and he is a spectacular young man and a crack shot with his 308. I'm sure will be hearing much more from him in years to come.

Jeff,

thanks for the very kind words and a GREAT rifle! It is harder to find a load that doesn't shoot than one that does. But the rifle is only a tool for setting a record, all the advice and help I have gotten from you, and a few others, is what has really driven me to go far. And I'm not done yet, not even close.

Wow, nice going!

If you are looking for a job when you turn 18 let me know, most of the time I have a Sniper slot in my section that needs filled...LOL! Just kidding-I'm starting to sound like a recruitor

i didnt see it on the site but what was the record ? do y'all shoot small game at ER or big game ?. what counts as a record ? i seen videso of people shooting varies animals at 700-900 yards but to me thats doesnt seem that far when you think about folks shooting at 2000. oh yeah did anyone see the episode of future weapons where he shot 7" low from the bulleye using a m99 416 barrett at 2500 yards gun)

I shoot a lot of things. I've shot groundhogs and other varmints a ways out. A couple 300yrd hogs but I've only bought my first centerfire rifle last summer. Just after the first full year (shot the record on June 12th , 2010). The record is the junior F-T/R High power rifle long range, Palma course record. 15shots 800, 15 at 900 and 15 at 1000.
I'm not sure what your trying to say with the other topics in your post...? That shooting a .308Win at 800-1000 yards into a 10" 10-ring isn't hard?

naw not a 308 i meant the videos of guys using like a 378 wby or 30-378 ,7mmstw etc with 10-40x50 scopes with their guide as their spotter and shooting elk mountain top from mountain top . you havnt seen that ? go to youtube . people give long range hunting a bad rep though . i would if i had a 416 m99 but i havnt held one in person and felt it so i cant say if i like it or not
