Hi Guys

Just wondering what OAL you have for the 25-06 rem.
My OAL for the 117gr is 79.35mm just off the lands.
Federal factory 117gr sp is 78.17mm ave.
The factory ammo groups well. My reloads hover round an inch but not as good as the factory ammo. My reloads are 3200fps with no pressure signs at book max, so going 200fps + quicker than the factory ammo. Next I will try seating the prohunters deeper until I get to the factory length which is over 1mm less than my reloads.
What OAL do you guys find works with a SP bullet? Do they like a bit of jump or just off the lands?
I am using a 25 inch new heavy barrel and 58.5 gr AR 2217 (H1000) book max.

Rover, pardon the pun but that's a loaded question. Very seldom what works for one rifle usually doesn't in another. As an example, my son's 25-06 Ruger most accurate COAL jams into the lands on my friend' Savage. Lands can measure differently in various makes. You are on the right track with seating depth, and perhaps try measuring on the ogive for greater accuracy. Good luck

In a number of 25-06's the 117 Sierra shoots best for me between 10 & 20 thousands of an inch off the lands. Don't know the metric equivalent.

My 25-06 is a Ruger #1V with the bull barrel. The Sierra 117 grain bullet was the first one I tried handloading. Many powders and primers and bullet seating depths were tried but that bullet just would not shoot worth a darn in my gun. I tried a few different bullets and they all gave great results. Try a different bullet if you find you continue to chase your tail with the 117 grain Sierra.

I think your 85.5gr of H1000 must be a misprint.
No matter what length required, my 25-06's like a jump of .020"-.030", or jammed at .010" into the rifling. I don't do this for hunting, only target work with my Sendero for comp use with 115gr Berfers, my other 25-06 is a Ruger M77 MK II.
I run either 110gr Accubonds in the Ruger, or 115gr Partitions in the Sendero. They both work equally well on the game I hunt.

Cheers.
