Definitely not in my neck of the woods.
Still up in my neck of the woods. Hasn't turned cold yet here. Hopefully we have a good opening day, for once in the past decade.
Next week I'll be working, so I hope they stroll on down for Labor Day weekend, or I'll be forced to sit by the fire pit grilling steaks and drinking bourbon while enjoying some cigars. Either way, it should be a great weekend!

All the water holes are full. More rain than usual this summer.
I heard that the bitter cold weather killed a lot of doves

There are some around. The Southern migration can turn on a dime. Feed everywhere because of the above normal rainfall. We normally hunt the water holes, but there is water standing in the terraces in some of the pastures.

I haven't seen many in central TX. We usually have some local birds that we can surprise on opening day, but have barely seen a handful lately.

Same here. Pretty disappointing, actually.
I'll have my rod/reel with me as well- bass fishing can also be enjoyed if the birds aren't cooperating

In some of the water holes I have hunted, the bullfrogs have bodies bigger than my hand! Frog legs,,,,,, ummmmmm!! The rest of the frog makes good bass bait. No waste....
