Why such a difference in price? NF NXS 12-42x56 cost $1885 versus NF 12-42x56 BR cost $1359. That's a difference of $526. The diffences to me seem to be more cosmetics ie moa turret adjustments exposed-NXS vs covered w/caps-BR and parallax location different. Maybe i've missed something of more significance but from what I can see I doesn't seem to make sense why such a price spread. What say all you NF users.

From my research and hands on experience I ended up with an NXS model.
The BR is designed for Benchrest shooting. The parallax adjustment is on the objective rather than a seperate knob on the side. Also the NXS is illuminated. It took me awhile to learn that while I was looking through various ones at the range. It isn't obvious until one reads the manual.
The BR version is more difficult to look through. The eye has to be placed more consistently with more narrow margins. Just my experience.
Looking though the NXS 12-42x56 was a real dream. During moderate mirage conditions a small sparrow like bird was a good target at 1K @ 22X. Any part of the dickie bird was a good target on 42X. That experience was what swung me to the NF scopes.

Roy, thank you for taking your time and thought in responding to me, I appreciate it. Since I hadn't received any response and prior to your response I figured I would ask Nightforce themselves. Your feedback particularly on the BR more difficult to look through and especially when you talk about "narrow margins"...I've dealt with that before and don't like it either. I'm sure you been in a similiar situation where your just going back and forth on should I choose this or that. Your feedback pushed me in one direction and sold me on the NXS. I'd be remiss if I didn't tell you that your feedback was right on the mark and echoes at least for me what I heard on the Nightforce video(see below) they sent me. Thanks for this, Roy. As you probably know, I'm looking very hard at an NF 5.5 - 22 w/ NPR1, but I haven't even seen one in person. Any help I can get in knowing more about the scope is welcome. And, thanks, Chas1 for the video, that was helpful as well. I feel kinda stupid, but I didn't even know (or perhaps had forgotten) until a couple of days ago (with as much time as I spend here...?!) that these scope come standard with illuminated reticles. It wasn't until I called NF and talked to Ken yesterday that I realized how the illumnation is controlled using the parllax dial. That had been my guess, but I'd not seen anything on there website (granted, hadn't downloaded a manual) that explained the illumination feature. Anyway, just made 'em worth that much more for the $.
Jmden don't ever feel stupid at least not around here. Some like myself in certain areas like optics are a novice and many others on this forum are experts and will willingly and freely share there knowledge, I really appreciate them. As such I have learned alot about scopes particularly Nightforce by simply doing a search on Nightforce and reading. I appreciate your thanks. What will you be using the scope for...paper...hunting...both and what distances? Charlie

I can't recall the reticle I orded. Its the one with more marks than the other. How's that for dumb?
