Newer gas cans are horrible. Any other spout options?

I use the fuel cans made for racing and motorsports. They cost more but are with every penny. The VP fuel cans mentioned above are the type. They don't leak or spill and empty quickly.

One other thing, I have tried to find out what was in Stabil because I have been told that It had alcohol in it and after using it several times it knocked out all of the O-rings in my fuel pumps and carburetors. I don't know if it has alcohol or not but I won't use it because of the damage it did. for years we used 50;1 oil (1 Tablespoon per gallon of gas) and the gas lasted 2 to 3 years. so with the new ethanol free gas, I just add the 50;1 to it and it stays fresh and also coats/protects the fuel system.

It burns clean and does not foul the plugs and also acts as a preservative and I know that I am not
adding anything to the ethanol fuel that could damage anything.

The VP or any racing fuel containers are very good for controlling/identifying the type of fuel you are putting in a piece of equipment and they minimize or eliminate evaporation.

You can purchase the old style spout and vent and retrofit them onto the newer cans.

My local ranch supply sells them and a hi-flow version for about $10.

Here's the info.

I saw them at my local ranch store (North 40) too but got a new container instead :):D:cool:

That's the cans I use for the saws.. I have had a 5 gallon one for about five years, and the spout hasn't failed yet. That's a good can....

I switched away from Stabil and towards Sea Foam probably 7 or 8 years ago myself.

At this time I can't remember why, although I do remember there was a reason.

I have been happy with Sea Foam. No regrets. :)

Funny side story, not sure if any of you guys have ever used Sea Foam shot straight into the carb in an attempt to clean it. I did once on an ATV when I still had my house in town. Man... that stuff REALLY makes your equipment smoke while you're spraying it into the carb! The smoke covered a few city blocks! Not exaggerating!

Remembering back, I'm fairly surprised nobody called the cops or the fire department!

So I finally got one of these put on a fuel jug. Works great! Now I'll order a few more to retrofit the rest of my jugs. Very happy to have this solution!

I own a Ace Hardware store and sell the EZ pour. Nice thing is that they include a vent which is a large part of the problem. Vented through the spout is a ridiculous way to control the vapor and let air into the can.
I can't vouch of the high flow but the other one saved me from tossing all of my plastic cans and purchasing safety cans.

I have a Mahindra tractor that I use to mow and brush hog with. Those stupid !$* newer cans are killing me when I fill it up with diesel. In fact, the stupid newest types that you have to push the nozzle button down onto the fill tube in order to allow it to flow caused damage to my tractor. It caused the trash catching screen the sits inside tractor's fill mount to get pushed down into the tank. Mahindra never engineered it to have pressure and weight on it, but those stupid cans require it to open the flow. Took 4 hours sitting in awkward positions on top of the tractor to fish it out (clothes hanger finally worked). When it got pushed in, trash that it had prevented from entering the fuel tank went in with it. I now have to remove the tank and clean it out, which is no small task. I would love to find the idiot that felt this was a good idea, and force them to stand leaning over holding up the 5 gallons of diesel as it slowly gurgles into the tank. I would have them do it several times to see how stupid this truly is. Then I would have them take apart the front of the tractor and remove the tank to clean it out for me.

Sounds like the same level of frustration I had.

For equipment that takes a lot of fuel at one time, we've been using those siphon gadgets that you just shake the thing in the middle. Works like magic! I saw my father in law using one with fuel up his wave runners and I was like "What the heck is that thing?" They're slick... I would definitely check them out for fueling up a tractor!
