I took the 7MM 08 for a big walk on Thu/Fri this week. Had to camp up really high to get amongst the animals.
The roar here has not long finished but already the hinds and stags had separated. I shot a couple of red deer for meat animals and got some great footage.

YouTube - Red Deer shot with Barnes TSX

I used the Barnes 120gn TSX in my 7MM 08. I really rate this bullet as you can see!

p.s I tried to post this in the video section but was not allowed

Cheers, Steve

:eek:not sure what to say.
What was the second shot for?
It did not hit anywhere close to the Stag you **** near misses.
Were you trying to wound another Deer.
Sorry, Thats the way i SEE IT

Very nice video 7mm08. Very clear too.
I assume the 2nd shot was the 2nd deer you took (from what I assumed occured in the bottom left hand corner).
What was the distance of the shot?
Without giving away you shooting spot what range in NZ were you hunting?
Great stuff!!

Look bottom left corner for second shot, it was a yearling and it got smoked big time. Camera was on a tripod so missed most of it.

p.s you might want to sharpen up your observation skills, it was not a stag

pps. suggesting I was trying to wound another deer is purely offensive- thats the way I HEAR IT

Youre onto it! just over 100 yards or so. The range was the best in NZ (Free Range public land) ;)

Good shooting and nice video Steve,

I've been a 7mm Rem Mag man most of my hunting life. Assuming that was a 7mm 08 it did a great job along with the 120 TSX. I've just gotten a 300 WSM and was planning to load some 168 gr TTSX's for it, but now leaning toward the the new 180 gr E-Tips Nosler has come out with.

Those 120 gr bullets coming out of the 7mm are good flat shooters.

How far out are you comfortable shooting with them?

Mark

400yds is easy, longest is 525yds but not really recommended
