New build barrel length

I'm in the process of building a 7mm-08. Looking at a 20 vs 22 inch Proof Sendero Light in 1:8 twist. This will be primarily a whitetail rifle but it will serve as a backup western mountain rifle. I plan on shooting 140-150 grain bullets. Your opinions are welcome. I can't decide. Thanks.

20" or less! Short barrels for the win!

I built a shorty 20" 6.5 this year with a sendero lite - honestly wish I would've went 18. Contrary to others - this 20" with a McMillan game scout balances out perfect for me!

20" if you'll go suppressed at any time in the future. 22" if not.
And don't need an 8 twist for 140's and 150's. The 9 twist works great.

The 20 inch Sendero Light only comes in a 1:8.

My Remington Model Seven SS 7-08 with factory 20" barrel is very accurate with 120 and 140 grain projectiles. Performs great on whitetails, as well.
I'll be using it on my next elk hunt.

I have a 7-08 with 18 1/2" bbl... I lopped it off from 25" bit by bit. Wish I had stopped chopping at 22". My other one is 22" and it handles superbly.
