I'm trying to finish up my parts list for a new 280AI build and I'm getting a little confused as to if I'm going to be able to pull off what I'm trying to do. Action is a Zermatt Origin LA and the stock is going to be an AG Adjustable Hunter.
I'd like to be able to run flush (or close to flush) 3 round mags as well as 5 round mags depending on where and what kind of hunting I'm doing. My original thought was that I was going to go with the Hawkins hunter DBM, but then I realized that on the LA models, you can only use their proprietary 3 round mags. I really like the inside of the trigger guard mag release, so I started looking around for something similar. I found the Wyatt's DBM but it looks like they only offer 5 round mags. Then I saw that Grayboe has a hunter DBM. The long action model only take 3.715" AICS mags which should be fine for my 280AI. I found that Accurate Mag offers both a 3 and 5 round mag that fits this length. My question is, does anyone know how close to flush this 3 round mag is going to sit in the DBM and will this even work to begin with? Seems like it would, but I'm wanting to check with the experts here.
