Can't find any data for these match 140 eld. My Tikka has always shot sub moa with any 140 grain bullet and 41-42 grains of H414. This bullet won't stay under 2 inches at 100 yards. Its always fed any 140 Nosler- Sierra- Speer-Barnes. Ect. If I stay in 140 grain. Rifle is 8 twist with 20 inch barrel. I'm laddering some up with H4831 sc which is load someone recommend. That's the powder I use for 300 win mag so I am figuring it's a lot slower. Anyone have a new Hornady manual.

Finally figured a few loads out.

I just shot my new 260 rem barrel for my LR308 today.
Of all the cartridges I have can't believe I never had a 260 before.

Its a 8 twist but in order to run mag length I'm going to run 123 amaxes.
Shot this today at 200 yards, h4350 and br2 primers.

That's a nice looking rifle. I had the Tikka CTR and sold it for a 300 win mag. I was disappointed and bought another one a few weeks ago. I really like the 260. I seated some at 2.765. Groups 1-5 I think. I would think that would fit your magazine. No recoil to mention and almost half the powder of a 300 win mag reload. I'm anxious to get to the 1000 yard range now and try and stretch these out farther to see how they do. BR-2 is my favorite primer. I'm going to take group 4 and work some in 3/10 grains and see if I can get any tighter.

Yes, I'd definitely load a couple of 5 round groups and re test for verification. Maybe at 300 yards or so.

I did a lot of reading on 260 rem lately and h4831 sounds like a good powder.
I'd like to try it but my adjustable gas block is turned down really low right now with 4350 and I'm afraid that 4831 would be too slow burning and beat up my BCG too much.

My number 6 group was with h4350. Seated a little longer and the flyer was my fault. I'm going to stick with the shorter oal. My rifle seems to like the jump. I'm going to load up 25 with each powder when I get to shoot farther. Going to chronograph what I got left tomorrow if rain ever stops. I'm sure I'm losing some speed with 20 inch barrel. My old rifle I never got to shoot more than 600 yards but they have extended the range now.

I'm having trouble reading your picture of the target.

Looking like you have 2 in the same hole and one low with 4350.
Its probably worth another group, just in case you pulled one.

That's where 5 round (or more) groups show the real pattern.

I like #6 the best. I had shot 6 other rifles letting this one cool between shots. I've got the trigger lower than any of my other rifles and I knew I pulled this one when I fired it. I was out of bullets due to last weeks range trip trying my tried and true h414. It didn't work so I switched to these 2 powders. I normally shoot five unless a pencil barrel. I just laddered up in 1 grain increments instead of the 1/2 grain I would have normally used. I attached another picture but don't know if it's any better.

I run the hornady 140sst in my 260 seated .010" off the lands and h4831. Ran my original ladder testing from 41.9 to 46.6gr in .3 increments. I had less than 1/2moa vertical between 43.3 and 43.9 and then again at 45.1 and 45.7. I ended up going with 45.7gr and groups hover around 3/4moa for 5 shots. Which for a pencil barreled light rifle (first gen rem titanium, bedded but all factory otherwise) is plenty accurate enough for the hunting it will do.

Strange that you had success with other 140's, and are seeing some difficulites with these.

This is my second one. My first I traded off but bought the new one. My first one I stayed around 42.5 grains of h414 with Nosler bt's and Sierra mk and gk. They were all giving me sub moa out to 500. The game kings opened up more but were suitable enough on steel plates. I've been pricing the t3 liters in 260 today on line. I'm wanting to go antelope hunting out west this fall and was going to take a 7-08 but I'm pretty fond of this 260. Got more rifles but want the lightest I can have to do a lot of walking.
