Need for logging in each time come this site

Didn't need to do for years???, but now need to log in for full benefits of forum.
What gives???

We are doing many things behind the scenes to optimize the user experience for our members while battling spam, etc. Non-members don't have the same privileges as members.

All has been running ok for about 10-12 days, now. Prior to that, there were several times i had to physically log in, after having gone years, not having to do so. Been good now for nearly 2 weeks.
My profile shows i have been a member since March of 2004. Would have guessed 2002, but that is close enough.
