Could you post your loads with crono results for h1000 and rl33 with 250, 285, and 300 grain bullets please. I'm not looking to copy loads just compare what I'm getting for results. I seem to be low on velocity from what I'm seeing out there but there isn't a lot of specific info.
At 92g h1000 and 300 berger I'm running 2700-2710, I get a very slight ejector mark, no increase bolt lift, no flattened primers. I'm not sure if I have a slow lot of powder or slow barrel, I didn't want to push the charge up until I asked about this faint ejector mark, it's very slight, I seem to get it with every load I've tried. No smear, can't feel it, have to hold just right in the light to see it. I've heard it's common on lapua to get a faint mark. What are your thoughts? It may be a characteristic of my gun? Barret 98b, 27" barrel.
Haven't tested the rl33 yet. Accuracy wise the 300 have all grouped well, shoot best the harder I push them so far.
I'm loading to .050" jump, 3.750. Have used new and once fired brass with .002" shoulder bump. Get the faint mark with both. I'd like to push a little higher velocity 2750-2800 if accuracy is there but not at the expense of trashing my brass. Let me know what you think and what your getting please.
Thanks, Shane.

I have not chrono'd my load in my 338 LM. I should do that sometime just to see what it comes up with. I have verified the drops out to 1780 yards with it though and 2815 fps puts me dead on out to that far. I have a 26" Hart barrel.

My load is:

300 gr Berger OTM
93 gr H1000
OAL is 3.900"
.015" from the lands

It is a single shot custom which is why I can load it that long. I had a dummy round made to give me the maximum amount of case space and had the chamber cut to those specs. I get the ejector mark that you are speaking of when temps get 80 or above but not with anything below that.

I do believe that the Barret 98B has a 26" barrel.

From what info I've gathered the first couple years of production got 27"with 0 moa rail then the 20" option and when the mrad was released the 98b got the 26" barrel along with 30 moa rail. Mine is an early production gun not that it makes squat for difference. I'd give up that inch for 30 moa rail any day.

Thanks for taking the time. Merry Christmas to ya.

alright.. well I did a lot of load workup for the338 edge and 338 lapua mag. i used both h1000 and rl33 in both.

338 edge
30inch benchmark barrel
Remington action.
Remington brass fed215m primers..
300 grain otms

rl33 I got up to 98 grains. velocity was around 2830
h1000 was 91.5 grains. velocity was 2870

338 lapua mag
26inch rock creek barrel
stiller tac 338 action
lapua brass. fed215m primers
300grain otms

h1000 I got up to 92 grains velocity was 2730
rl33 I got up to 102 grains of powder. I settled on 100.7 velocity was 2815

So maybe I'm not as far off as I was thinking. Do you see any very faint ejector marks?
Thanks.

I don't run Reloaders but I do run 95.7grs of Retumbo under a 300 berger and fed 215M with a COL of 3.950 and FPS 2836.
