We'll continue our LRD in 2017, 5th year for the event, dates are April 29, May 27, June 24, July 29, August 26, September 30 - Rain or shine.

8:00 to Noon, come earlier for registration and setup suggested, you don't have to be there at 8:00 nor stay the entire time.

Fees are still a low $15.00 for Club members, $20.00 for non members.

Shortly in the Club's website - Factoryville Sportsmen's Club - will have any updated COF details in the Long Range Day section, generally will be the same as in 2016, though the firing lines are grouped together by distance for better shooter communication, and sharing of steel target racks if need be to allow more shooters engaging targets at one time.

Shoot for score against other shooters or just to stretch out your rifle, LR pistol, shotgun slugs, muzzleloaders, and rimfires at mostly steel targets of various sizes at 227Y, 337Y, 426Y.

Suppressor friendly but steel core, armor piercing, tracer or incendiary ammo not allowed.

Magnums and 50 cal welcome, but 50 cal will either need to shoot paper or bring your own steel. No full autos.

More to come as the dates nears, possibly a LRD "championship" for 2017, and more scenario / PRS style shooting.

In 2016 we tried preregistration through a particular site (which was a nightmare and confusing), if coming please use the Facebook group calendar as "going" so as better plan for a larger or smaller attendance.

Sorry a little late on the shoot reminder for this month....we'll hold our next match this Saturday, May 27. Please refer to the initial post on details / links for information.

The long range event held 29 Apr 17 had a record total of 34 participants – 26 shooters (2 actually showed up just before noon and chose not to shoot would have been 28) and 8 spotters / spectators. 10 shooters were members. 8 new shooters participated in the event, resulting in 1 new member application. Calibers varied across many shooting platforms all the way up to .50BMG as did shooters from CMP, Benchrest, Tactical / Precision, Silhouette, and F class disciplines. 5 shooters shot for score toward the season long championship.

under files / documents

Hopefully we will remain lucky with good weather.

8 shooters turned in a score for the season long championship. Results of the shoot and current championship standings can be located on the LRD group facebook page.

We had a rare visitor circle above in the form of an "albino" leucistic red tailed hawk.

Hello shooters,

Just a reminder that this Saturday, Aug 26 we'll have the 5th shoot of the year, starting at 8:00am, ending at Noon.

A further reminder that armor piercing, tracer, or steel core & jacketed ammo is not permitted, and no automatics (more than 1 bang per trigger squeeze or release.

The last match had 20 participants – 19 shooters, 1 spotter. 6 were members, 14 non-members, with 2 new shooters to the event.

See you Saturday!

Hello Shooters,

This Saturday, Sept 30 we'll have our last regularly scheduled shoot of the season, and crown the season champion for those that shot for score. If it happens it's the match director, the championship will default to the second highest season score.

There may, or may not be a "Halloween themed shoot" in October, if it materializes I'll pass that along.

The line goes hot at 8:00am through noon. Usually this time of year there is fog in the morning, so there may be a delay in getting started at 8:00.

August results:

We had the 5TH shoot of the season on 26 AUG, after a fog delay 13 shooters fired the course. 4 were members, 9 non-members. 5 shooters turned in a score for the season long championship. Results of the shoot and current championship standings can be located on the LRD group facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/986239014763951/

Looking for a sponsorship(s) in 2018....Sort of a "Joe Blow Gunshop Championship Cup". Which your company's / organization's name will be publicized in the club newsletter (reaches over 600 members), noted predominately in many forums, on Facebook, on scorecards or even banners if you wish. Anyone that would like to, or knows anyone that may be interested in putting up trophies, prizes, shirts, hats, gift certificates, etc please give me a PM.

The 6TH and last regular scheduled shoot of the season held Sept 30th had 21 participants, 18 shooters / 3 onlookers and was a great turnout considering being the Archery deer opener and the very windy conditions. 8 were members, 10 non-members. 5 shooters turned in a score for the season long championship. We also had 3 new shooters to the event, and 1 pre-teen shooter. Results of the shoot and current championship standings (match director removed from the running by default) can be located on the LRD group facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/986239014763951/

2017 SEASON SUMMARY

In this 5th year of the event going "live", we had the best LRD season ever in 2017 with dramatic increases in every category through the 6 events held. We averaged 20 shooters per match, had 23 new shooters to the event. There were 123 entries (44 members and 79 non members) with 15 spectators a total of 138 participants.
We upgraded numerous targets (which accounted for the highest but needed expense) reformed the berms, brush was cleared along the range for better access, line of sight, and cleaner appearance. The firing line was adjusted to allow for more positions, better communication, and increased safety. Additional upgraded Wind flags were also added, and a season long championship with awards was established, along with the event being a part of the club championship.

Thanks to everyone that came out and shot, helped with setup / tear down of the course, donated time, effort, and materials and promoted the event by telling a buddy or sharing the event with others so as the shoots can improve and move forward into 2018.
