Cody took a 330 yard shot @ a crazy 24% downward shot. It the buck square in the shoulder with a 140 gr Partition out of a 6.5x284. The buck dropped. I was very surprised at how little meat was lost.

Congratulations to your son and to you for taking him hunting.
Get a load of the exit hole on this Mule deer. 130 G Hornady ELD-m.
Never again . Others on the internet claim ELD-m work great for hunting, well not if you want to eat anything after its dead. Lost the tenderloins. Deer went 30 yards, the entire stomach was 15 yards from were the deer came to a stop. Very strange, guys I was hunting with said they'd never see this happen, they've
been hunting over 35 years. 6.5 creedmoor 130 ELD-M going 2800 FPS. about 100 yard shot. Shot 140 VLD hunting bullets in the past but this rifle would only shoot them accurately at 2550 fps and I wanted a little more velocity.

Congrats and what a smile on that young man! I got my first elk with a 150gn NP out of my 270 and recovered the bullet. Excellent terminal performance.

Beautiful deer - and great shot!
I have found the partition to be a top performer on big game - lt May not have a flashy high BC but man it does the job!
Nice Deer, esp. for a first Deer & nice shot. I have also found that bullet to be deadly. Like you say, not the BC of a LR Bullet but not blunt either, for 500 yds and under the BC is decent. I have loaded those for my Wife's CM and her Swede, she has taken several Deer and 2 Elk with that bullet with pass throughs and a lot of terminal damage.
