I know a bartlien sporter weight #2b fits a factory inlet mod 70 win just fine. For those that have done it how much inletting is required for the #3 contour? I am considering a #3 sporter 29" blank, and cutting an inch off of the shank to move it back and help the contour fit the factory inlet. I think i will have to open the barrel channel a little. Did it work for you?

I recently had my favorite 'smith chamber, cut/crown a 26" Brux #3 and true the action / bolt face on a 2001 New Haven 300 WSM. He cut the barrel shank only enough to chamber / headspace. The Brux contour is close to the factory barrel. Its mounted in the factory Featherweight stock. Stock required some opening of the barrel channel to achieve full barrel float but not so much that I have any concern about that beautiful walnut being compromised anywhere. I'll try to remember to post a pic of the fit for you.
