How wide is the barrel channel opened up at forend tip?
Is Bottom metal aluminum or steel? Big weight difference!

Bottom metal is aluminum. Barrel channel is 1.25" at the tip. Not sure what it weighs?? Don't have any scales to weigh it on.

How close is the defiance to a Remington l/a?

They have the same footprint. The main difference would be the small inlet for the side bolt release on the defiance action. Most all custom actions are basically Remington footprint actions with better fit and finish,side bolt release and better extraction methods.

I'm not certain, but I think the Tac 338 actions are a little larger than the defiance actions?? Maybe someone that knows more about the two will chime in.
