Does anyone know of a range in the 600-1000 yard catigory in the eastern part of the state

I am not sure about Eastern Iowa but one of the best in the US is at Pella.

I am a beginner at long range hunting but am trying to plan an elk hunt in BC or MT and am interested in the facility in Pella. How long would you think it would take me to become acurate out past 500 yards. Oh yeah thinking about a 45/120 with a vernier sight.

How long it will take is dependent on current abilities and equipment. You will learn a lot faster with an accurate rifle. Without a very accurate rifle you won't know if it's you or the gun.

As far as the 45/120 and vernier sights you might want to PM or email Sharpsman he seems to be very knowledgeable in that area.
