Lots of powder at Bruno`s

I actually bought .223 dies the other day. I have .223 bullets, powder, and brass. Would I be a moron to spend $120 or even 200 on a brick of small rifle primers if I was out of .223 ammo? (I'm not even close by the way) 😉. But I do not have small rifle primers.

People don't "need" to shoot. It's a sporting hobby. That's what ticks me off so bad when people drive these prices up. They are acting like it's such serious business. It absolutely IS NOT. Peoples well being or livelihood do not depend on shooting firearms. They are just taking something we all like to do and making it ridiculously expensive for no good reason. Like it or not, it will discourage a ton of people from getting into the sport and many others that were already doing it decide to stop.

So don't keep arguing with me. It's a waste of breath because I'm not part of the problem.

If you don't "need to shoot" why do you care? But telling people they are morons for buying powder doesn't help us build a coalition of people that are active in shooting. Maybe all that powder is going to basements that'll never load a round. If so, we'll have some bargains in 10 years. I've got several people involved in shooting and hunting. I would never discourage them based on cost. I let them decide. Maybe it would be better for our sport if I did? Less gun owners and shooters would surely lower powder prices long term. Done wasting breath. You are actively fighting for our sport and I appreciate it.

Businesses like Gunbroker who allow people to sell Ammo and components at ridiculous hi prices are as much to blame as the non shooters stock piling everything to make huge profits and cause shortages for real shooters ill never do business with Gunbroker again!

I have primers, powders, new brass and bullets to last several years. I take the 20 minute drive to Bruno's a couple times a month to pick up bullets for match shooter friends out of state. They know me by name and are doing everything possible to get components in stock which includes buying from suppliers not directly from the manufacturers. I'm not buying powders at these prices and haven't seen primers there in three months. If a reloader needs components and wishes to pay the going price, it's his or her option. With the exception of primers, Bruno's has components in stock and many don't.

Iv broken into my last brick of cci 250 primers in 2020 and have one brick of large pistol primers. Im not going to pay 15-30 cents per primer so im not shooting much.
There are a lot of different powders id like to get for load development but im not going to pay outrageous prices. I'm fine with sitting on the sidelines for a year or two : )

I did pick up a lb of accurate no.2 and 1000 Barry's plated bullets today and some dies for my 45 acp. Will put me around .25 cents per rd. - if I could pick up boxes of 45 acp for 18-20$ I wouldnt have bothered.

The only powder I have a decent supply of is IMR 4350 - just under 8lbs its works good in my 338 wm and my dads 30-06 - should work well in my 257 Roberts. My 7mm RM doesnt care for it buts its acceptable.

I can definitely get by with what I have I'd sure like it if things were available at a fair price. I can afford to pay what people are asking but if I did I would be prolonging the problem.

Why are people complaining about those prices? H1000 was 41.99 a pound at scheels the other day. And sold out in a day. People better get used to seeing inflation. Many of out powders come from other countries and the more money that the government keeps printing the more our money is worth less internationally, where the powder is made.

And thanks to the OP for trying to help a guy out.

I shoot between 50-150 (or more) rounds a weekend. Takes a lot of components to feed that. But that is what I choose to spend my money on. I frequent Bruno's a LOT. Known by name down there. I have ordered online as well. But, with shipping, hazmat fees, and wait times, Bruno's makes a lot of sense for local guys.
I don't drink.
I don't smoke.
I don't do drugs.
I don't have a big house payment.
I only have my wife's 4Runner payment out of 5 vehicles.
I have a good job.
My wife has a good job.
My vice is shooting and hunting.
I have a bunch of custom rifles with top tier components and glass.
I reload and shoot for fun. I shoot for practice. I shoot for confidence so hunting season seems like a chip shot.

I'm in the same boat as you except never been married. Haha. I'm not scared of gunbroker if I need to feed my habit. Lol

Its not.about the money its a matter of princable. Most of us can easily afford these stupid prices. Reloading was not cheaper than buying factory ammo b4 all this with all the components most play with and the additional shooting plus equipment.

I can afford to pull several thousand out of the bank and go give it to some guy pan handling if I want. I just dont want to. Some guy selling primers for 200$ id rather go without than see him make 160 profit off 40 in primers.
