Hi all, I'm working on setting up a coyote gun.

The opportunity to shoot a coyote never really presented itself till recently. My property abuts farmland so there is potential to shoot up to 200yds maybe more. I did shoot a coyote in February of 2022 with my 308 Model 7 deer rifle using a 1.75-6 VX-iii with custom shop installed German #4 at about 80yds. The bullet basically gutted him and he still ran 100yds. Coyotes, in my area, are becoming, well, numerous. We hear them howling at night and they sound like they're in our back yard. My goal is a more efficient rifle with the ability to shoot at night.

I purchased a Diamondback Fde DB15 in 223, now I'm looking at optics. I'm trying to stay in the $200-$500 range. I would like an illuminated but not overly busy reticle.
Possibilities, in no particular order;
Bushnell AR optics 4-18
Sightron s-tac 4-20
Burris Fullfield IV 4-16
Leupold Mark ar 3-9, Mark 3hd, vxr 3-9
Arken epl4 4-16
Meopta Optika6 5-30
Trijicon (too many options to list)

I'm not biased to any particular brand, if there is something you'd recommend that I did not list.

Thank you

You could look into a Vortex Diamondback 4-16 Tactical. If you shop around you can find them in your price range. I put one on my AR and just love it.

If your goal is "My goal is a more efficient rifle with the ability to shoot at night." your choices might not work unless you use a spotlight (maybe). You might need a scope with night vision or thermal imaging capability.

I have a red predator light. It's interesting to me that deer eyes that are typically green with a white spotlight appear red when using a red predator light.

There aren't any well stocked dealers in my area to see any of these.
