I have a Rem 700 Custom Shop 270 win that I would like to have rechambered to 270 AI. If you would know of a smigth with that reamer, I would appreciate that info...THANKS
Most established gunsmiths might have them. Do you have one near you? If so, and they do not have one, https://4drentals.com/product/270-winchester-ackley/ have them for rent.I have a Rem 700 Custom Shop 270 win that I would like to have rechambered to 270 AI. OK. As I said, there are plenty of gunsmiths that might have them. Have you called any near you? How far are you willing to ship your rifle? My gunsmith here in Montana has one and chambered my .270 AI.Thanks for the input. Prefer not to rent a reamer. Looking for an experienced smith. THANKS
Many moons ago I rented a reamer and it fubared my chamber, When I mentioned it to the owner of the reamer rental, Instead of trying to make it right, He said I fubared his reamer and charged me for a new one, I'm not going to mention any names but most of you know which one I'm talking about. The reamer I rented looked like total She-Ite and like it had done a couple hundred chambers, Needless to say that guy would never get my business again! I'm a lot more picky about reamers these days anyway and if I buy one that I dont think I will use again you can sell them on Ebay for as much or close to what you paid, That's the route I go nowadays. I have an inventory of about 75 Reamers, Although it changes from time to time, I don't have a 270 AI reamer, But if you talk to @ Muddyboots I believe this is one of the calibers he has done. Most established gunsmiths might have them. I am sorry about your negative experience with reamer rental. My gunsmith used his own .270 AI reamer on my .270 AI that was built in 2012 >> https://www.longrangehunting.com/threads/my-budget-270-ai.97745/. However, he rented a reamer to re-chamber my .30-06 to .30 Gibbs (https://www.longrangehunting.com/threads/30-gibbs-is-finally-ready.242088/) from the link in #3 I provided without any issues. Many moons ago I rented a reamer and it fubared my chamber, When I mentioned it to the owner of the reamer rental, Instead of trying to make it right, He said I fubared his reamer and charged me for a new one, I'm not going to mention any names but most of you know which one I'm talking about. I have always wanted to do a .30 Gibbs, I have a 30-06 AI I built 10 or 12 years ago and it wouldn't really make sense to for me to do a Gibbs, But that never stopped me before! .30 caliber has always been my favorite, Even though the last few years I've been messing with 6.5 Cartridges. Even now if I had not had that bad experience with renting a reamer, I wouldn't want to use a reamer that's done 1 or 200 chambers.I am sorry about your negative experience with reamer rental.
